Communication is how we make connections and build relationships with others. Communication comes in many forms such as oral speech, gestures, written communication, and for some Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Alexicom Tech has created unique AAC systems for mobile devices and computers to help people communicate when they cannot speak or need assistance communicating with others. We are unique because we have specific page sets and apps for different ages with both phrase-based and single word page sets. Each app has language and images for those ages (i.e. .child, teen, adult). With the choice of free apps or one-time purchase apps, AAC can be used by anyone and anywhere. In addition, Alexicom Tech’s cloud-based AAC subscription provides remote programming and easy customization for groups of users. Our real images benefit a variety of age groups from young to matured adults so they feel comfortable with their AAC systems and can quickly identify the cell meaning. People often quickly recognize pictures such as a favorite drink image, the Target symbol, or the cover of a favorite book. Pairing the image, text, and spoken words along with partner modeling, allows our users to quickly learn to make requests, comments, and share information about a favorite topic.
