EksoNR is a robotic exoskeleton specifically designed to be used in a rehabilitation setting to progress neurorehab patients so they can walk out of the device and back into their communities. As the first exoskeleton FDA-cleared for acquired brain injury, stroke, and spinal cord injury, EksoNR offers the industry’s most natural gait, re-teaching the brain and muscles how to properly walk again.

Cognitive Abilities

For safe use, users must understand cause + effect (action = result). Independent use requires the ability to understand and follow 2 step instructions. Users must also have intact judgment (ability to learn that if something is unsafe, they should not do it). This device is not appropriate for individuals with psychiatric or cognitive situations that may interfere with proper operation.

Functional Abilities

This device is intended for people with lower limb disabilities and can accommodate individuals from 5’ to 6’4 tall weighing up to 220lbs. Users must be able to support crutches or a walker, have healthy bone density, no fractures and be able to stand and weight-bear while aided. This device is not intended for people with; a history of severe neurological injuries other than SCI, severe concurrent medical diseases (infections, circulatory, heart or lung, pressure sores), severe spasticity (Ashworth 4), unstable/unhealed fractures, significant contractures. Users should not use this device while pregnant.

Environment

This device is currently only available in certified rehab centres.

Activities

This device is the only exoskeleton designed by clinicians for clinicians and features software incorporating early mobility tools and independent walking support. It is designed to be used exclusively in a rehabilitation clinic setting.
