Advanced Tonic-Clonic Seizure Detection
Embrace2 is the latest epilepsy sensor from Empatica who have established themselves as leading experts in producing devices designed to detect seizures. Embrace2 is certified as a medical device in Europe and has gained FDA clearance in the US, which confirms the high rate of accuracy and reliability.
The wrist worn seizure monitor measures Electrodermal Activity (EDA), which means it detects changes in certain properties of the skin. This includes sweat secretion, a common indicator of potential seizure activity.
The Embrace2 sensor includes an accelerometer and gyroscope to monitor repetitive movement patterns and a temperature sensor, all of which assist with detecting potential tonic clonic seizures. The Embrace2 is the only epilepsy sensor available to combine both EDA and motion to detect seizures, which is proven to be more accurate than movement alone.
Alert Carers and Loved Ones
The Embrace2 sensor monitors changes in physiological conditions as well as movements that can be associated with seizures and communicates this data to a connected smartphone device.
When the Embrace2 detects signals that indicate seizure activity, it will use the connected smartphone to alert carers or loved ones via phone or SMS. The Embrace2 connects to the smartphone device via Bluetooth and must remain within 10m of the sensor.
Data and alerts are handled by two Embrace2 apps that can be downloaded via the App Store or Google Play.
Long Battery, Fast Charging
The Embrace sensor is worn on the wrist and connects to a nearby smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. Embrace2 weighs just 13g and is fully charged within 90 minutes. The battery lasts for 48 hours before it needs recharging.
Embrace2 is FDA cleared (US) and CE certified.
Embrace2 Alert App
The Alert app collects real time data from the sensor and detects any unusual patterns in movement and the EDA. If potential seizure activity is detected, the app will use either the mobile data or WiFi to send an automated SMS message and call selected carers. The Alert features include:
Rest Mode
This setting has extra sensitivity that helps the Embrace2 detect seizures during periods of rest, especially nocturnal seizures. Whether you are sleeping, reading a book or watching TV, Rest Mode will monitor your signals and immediately alert for possible tonic-clonic seizures.
Alerts with Location
Enhance alerts with your precise GPS location to expedite assistance. This is available in Standard and Plus subscription plans.
