The Merry Walker was designed to prevent falls and to increase independent ambulation. The Merry Walker will strengthen leg, back and arm muscles through walking safely in the framed assistive device. If a person using a forward pushing walker, pick-up or wheeled walker, and the person has been assessed to be at risk for falls, these walkers will not decrease the fall risk for that person. The forward pushing walker has no posterior seat to sit on if a person should fall or need to sit down to rest at any given time. Placing such a person in a Merry Walker will not only allow self-rehabilitation to occur with each step, but should the person continue to fall, it has been found that most of the people fall backwards and sit down on the seat, defraying any injury from a fall. Many of us take the simple act of walking for granted. When a person’s walking ability becomes impaired through the normal aging process or with disease onset, the person then comes to realize how important walking is in maintaining their highest quality of life. When walking is returned to a person and maintained at the highest level possible, further disease involvement can be retarded. The Merry Walker Corporation strives to provide the medical assertive devices to assist people in the reaching the highest walking level possible.
Merry Walker is fabricated from 16 gauge 1 inch steel.
Small in size as the device is bottom weighted and tip resistant due to the unique design
The seat is filled with layers of closed foam and polyester fiber fill and is covered in black washable vinyl, making seating very comfortable for the end user and is totally immersable in water for easy cleaning
Available in 13 different sizes, able to fit any person who is 4’ 0” tall to 6’6” tall and will carry people whose weight is from 80 pounds to 600 pounds
